Children in Need

Maja Robertson from our U12s is raising money for Children in Need by dribbling a hockey ball from Haddington to Longniddry along the railway walk. To add to Maja’s total, we have decided that training next Wednesday, 15th November, will be fancy dress/onesie/pjs/silly hat/pudsey ears etc night for £1 donation. It is not compulsory to take part but it would be good to show support to Maja and the Children in Need appeal #doyourthing #goodtogive #community

Haddington Festival

Just a reminder that the Haddington Hockey Youth Festival takes place on Sunday 5th November at Aubigny Astro. Age group coordinators will be in touch soon to see who is available to play. Please respond to them as it helps me work out how many teams we can enter so that players get as much pitch time as possible.

The timings are as follows –

U8 10am-11am (9.45am meet)
U10 11.15am – 1.15pm (11am meet)
U12 1.30pm – 3.30pm (1.15pm meet)
U14 3.30pm – 4.30pm (3.15pm meet)
We will need helping hands with set up, baking, manning the food stall, timekeeping, coaching, and umpiring. If you (or your older child) can help with any of these things, please let me know.

Youth Umpiring Course

I will be running another Youth Umpiring Course on Wednesday 27th September 6.30pm-8.30pm at the Aubigny for anyone who missed the last one held earlier this year.

It’s open to players, coaches and parents who would like to learn more about the rules of youth hockey. After the session, attendees will have the knowledge and hopefully confidence to umpire matches at U8, U10 and U12 age groups.

If you would like to attend, please let me know.

U14 (S1 & S2) Training

Now that we are a few weeks into the new season, it is clear that the 5pm-6pm session is very busy. Whilst we want as many children as possible playing hockey, we also want them to enjoy it and be safe. In order to continue to provide a safe, quality and fun environment, we have decided to move U14 (S1 & S2) training back an hour to 6pm-7pm, as of Wednesday 20th September.

We appreciate this change might not suit everyone but we feel this option is preferable to having lots of children on a waiting list. If this change means your child will no longer be able to play hockey then please get in touch.

Registration Forms

Registration forms are essential for all players and must be completed every season. We have moved to an online system to make life easier all round and the form can be found in the drop down menu on the website under “Registration Form”.

Completion of the form means we can register your child with our Scottish Hockey insurance policy. It also gives us vital medical information and contact details that allow us to keep your child safe while under our care.

Several people are yet to complete the registration form and our window of flexibility is running out so please complete the form asap. As of Sun 10th September it will be a “no form, no play” policy.
