P1 intake

When we return after the Easter holidays, our U8 session (4pm-4.45pm) will be open to P1s. If you would like to sign your child up please go to the “Join Youth Section” part of our website and complete the form. All children must be signed up prior to coming along so that we have the necessary information. Sticks and shinguards can be provided but children should have their own gumshield.

Look forward to meeting some new faces very soon!

Upcoming Tournaments & TeamApp

We have a number of tournaments to look forward during the next few months –

Meadowmill Indoor Tournament at Meadowmill Sports Centre on Sunday 13th May. U10s in the morning and U12s in the afternoon. Nothing for U8s or U14s.

Dunbar Tournament at Hallhill Centre on either Sunday 20th or 27th May. U8s and U10s in the morning and U12s and U14s in the afternoon.

Fidra Tournament is Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd June. Location and times TBC but it is open to U8, U10, U12 and U14.

East Lothian Tournament at Meadowmill on Saturday 23rd (U8, U10, U12) and Sunday 24th June (U14 and adults).

Sign up for all of these and all future festivals, leagues and tournaments will be done through TeamApp only. Please make sure you download the app (it is free and you can also access it on your computer) and request to join “Haddington Junior Hockey Club”, signing up for each age group that you have a child in. As your child moves through the age groups you will have to join that group as it does not automatically move you up. The U14s have trialled the use of TeamApp and found it to be excellent for match notifications and sign-ups.

Using TeamApp will enable us to reduce the use of manually-generated email lists to coordinate match sign-up (as part of our data protection policies to comply with GDPR laws – more information will be published on this soon).

Donations Please!

One of our lovely U10 parents has offered to run a tombola and hamper raffle at our tournament on Sunday so we are looking for donations please. There will be an adult hamper, child hamper, and a general tombola so we are looking for anything from wine or juice to Easter eggs or biscuits, or even toiletries. For the child hamper, things like pens and pencils, sport socks, gumshield, sweets etc. There will be a box at training on Wednesday for donations and after that they can be dropped off in the Aubigny.

Also, remember we are needing lots of home baking for the food stall. This is a good chance for us to raise some funds to cover our costs for running the tournament (pitch hire, medals etc). If all our members bring one thing for both the home baking and tombola/hampers, we’ll have lots to sell to our visiting teams… and own supporters of course. Many hands make light work and all that! #hockeyfamily

Thank you!

Back to Hockey!

We’re very excited to announce that we are adding a new session to our range of opportunities at the club – Back to Hockey!

This is ideal for those ladies who want a fun, social and friendly approach to being active. Maybe you have played before and want to get back into it or maybe you have never picked up a stick before. Maybe you are a young mum or maybe you are a granny. Maybe you have a child at the club or maybe you don’t. It doesn’t matter, you are all welcome!

Your first session is FREE and thereafter £2.50 per session on a pay as you play basis. Sticks are provided, and we have some spare shinguards too. We start on Wednesday 18th April, 7pm-8pm, at Aubigny Sports Centre.

Any questions use the contact form or email the club.

Come on ladies, get involved and join the hockey revolution!

East League Fixtures

Our U14 and U12s will be in action in the East Leagues again this term, with U14 starting on Sunday 14th January and U12s on the 21st January. All fixtures will be played at Mary Erskine School, Ravelston Dykes Road, EH4 3NT.

Due to increased numbers, we have entered two U14 teams this term and luckily for me coaching, they play at the same place on the same day but not the same time! The exact fixture lists will be sent to us by the league secretary this coming Sunday and we will get these times out asap.

I am aware some U14s were not getting the emails about the fixtures and they thought it was because they had to be invited to play. That was not the case, the matches are open to anyone of any ability that are registered and training with us. To avoid this happening again we will be trialling the use of TeamApp for signing up to East League games for the U14 ONLY. There will be no email, just TeamApp, so please download the free app from your android or apple device. The U12 will continue to use email for now but if the U14 trial is successful we will switch to using TeamApp for everyone.

A “TeamApp for Dummies guide will be posted shortly…
