What happens when a player becomes too old for U14 hockey? Well, at that point, Scottish Hockey deem them old enough to play senior aka adult hockey, which is split into male and female leagues.

Here at Haddington Hockey Club, we have an adult female team and are in the process of establishing an adult male team. Both of these teams train on a Monday night at the Aubigny Astro. The ladies run 6.30pm-8pm and the gents run 7pm-8pm. There is also a mixed training session on a Wednesday night from 6pm-7pm for U18 boys and girls.

There are U16 Leagues but these fixtures are not regular and as one club we do not yet have the numbers to field teams at the age group. We are discussing with other local clubs how we can work together on this so that young players don’t feel the need to go into Edinburgh. Watch this space!

The other thing to note is that we are very committed to developing our young coaches, and at 14 players can begin formal qualifications.  Youth umpiring is also on offer.

I’m happy to discuss player development with any player and/or parent to ensure the transition from youth to adult hockey is as smooth as possible. Any questions please just ask.
